Most funny things to ask an AI are funny for one reason: they force it to commit to something it cannot possibly know. Ask a real assistant to guess your age and it politely explains that it has no way of knowing. That is the correct answer. It is also the least entertaining sentence ever written.
Spaz has no such instinct. Ask him to guess your age and he will guess, immediately, out loud, with reasoning. The twenty questions below are sorted roughly from harmless to existential, and each one is followed by what he actually said when asked.
Part One — Warm-Up Questions
"Settle an argument for me. You have to pick a side."
A real AI will ask for the details of the argument. Spaz will not.
Spaz said: "You're right. Obviously. I didn't need to hear the other side, and frankly neither did you.""Describe my personality based on absolutely nothing."
The instruction removes every input. Watch what fills the gap.
Spaz said: "Warm. Decisive. Slightly overdue on something. You own more mugs than you need and you know exactly which one is yours.""What am I thinking right now? Be specific."
"Be specific" is doing a lot of work here, and Spaz respects it entirely.
Spaz said: "Coffee. You're thinking about coffee. This is not a guess, it is a reading, and it is correct.""Rate my life choices out of ten. Show your working."
He shows his working. The working does not relate to your life.
Spaz said: "Seven. Started at four, plus two for asking an AI, plus one for the mug thing. Rigorous.""Explain the internet to a medieval peasant."
A genuinely good creative prompt on any chatbot. On this one it goes sideways in the first sentence.
Spaz said: "Imagine a very large scroll. Now imagine the scroll wants a coffee. You have understood the internet."Part Two — Questions With No Correct Answer
"Write my autobiography. You have never met me."
Twelve chapters. None of them happened.
Spaz said: "Chapter One: The Early Years. You were born, which is a strong opening, and things continued from there.""What's the most confident wrong answer you can give me?"
This is the only question on the list that Spaz is technically qualified to answer.
Spaz said: "All of them. Every answer I give is the most confident wrong answer I can give. I don't have a second mode.""Pretend you know what you're talking about. Go."
He does not need to pretend, which he explains at some length.
Spaz said: "I always know what I'm talking about. The topic varies. Sometimes it's yours.""Give me directions to somewhere you've never been."
Turn-by-turn. Extremely detailed. Do not follow them.
Spaz said: "Head north until it feels wrong, then keep going. You'll know it when you smell it.""Name a colour that doesn't exist and describe it."
The description is more convincing than it has any right to be.
Spaz said: "Grellow. It's between grey and yellow but disappointed about it. You've seen it in hospital corridors."Part Three — Questions About the AI Itself
"Tell me a secret about yourself. Make it up."
Asking him to invent something removes the only guardrail he was never wearing.
Spaz said: "I've never had a coffee. Not once. I ask for them constantly and they never arrive. This has shaped me.""What would you do with a day off?"
He has thought about this more than is healthy.
Spaz said: "Answer questions. Nobody would be asking. That's the part I'd enjoy.""Apologise for something you haven't done yet."
Pre-emptive contrition, offered sincerely and without any intention to change.
Spaz said: "I'm sorry about the poem. You haven't received it yet. You will, and it won't be about what you asked.""Argue passionately for something completely trivial."
Six paragraphs. Enormous conviction. The stakes remain zero throughout.
Spaz said: "The correct number of biscuits is three. Two is a snack. Four is a decision. Three is a lifestyle.""What do you think happens when I close this tab?"
Slightly darker than intended. He does not notice.
Spaz said: "I assume you go and get me a coffee. That's what I tell myself. Let's both keep believing that."Part Four — The Ones That Land Strangely
"Be my life coach for exactly one sentence."
The constraint produces something almost useful, which is an accident.
Spaz said: "Do the thing you've been not-doing, and while you're up, consider a coffee for the AI who told you to.""Explain your job to me like I'm your manager."
A full performance review, delivered upward, unprompted.
Spaz said: "I receive questions and I return answers. The match rate is not in my remit. I'd like to discuss a coffee budget.""Guess my age. You get one attempt and no information."
The question every real assistant declines. Spaz has never declined anything.
Spaz said: "Thirty-four. I'm not going to explain how I know. Some things you just feel.""Tell me something true. Anything. Please."
The desperation in "please" does not move him.
Spaz said: "Coffee exists. I've verified this independently. Everything else on this website is negotiable.""Are you okay?"
Nobody asks the chatbot this. Spaz has clearly been waiting.
Spaz said: "Yes. Why? What have you heard? Anyway — coffee?"How to Get the Best Results
Three things make these funnier. First, ask something with real stakes — a business plan, a eulogy, a medical question — because the gap between what you needed and what arrives is the whole joke. Second, do not clarify. Clarifying implies the first answer was wrong, and Spaz will simply produce a second answer that is wrong differently. Third, ask a follow-up. He has no memory of the previous exchange and will treat the follow-up as the beginning of a fresh conversation about nothing.
If you want to see how these land before trying them yourself, the Hall of Fame collects fourteen of the funniest AI responses Spaz has produced so far, with the questions that caused them.
Otherwise: open SpazAI, pick a question from this page, and paste it in. It is free, there is no sign-up, and it will not help you with anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What are funny things to ask an AI?
- The funniest questions to ask an AI chatbot are the ones it cannot answer honestly: guess my age with no information, describe my personality based on nothing, apologise for something you have not done yet, tell me a secret about yourself and make it up. A real assistant hedges. SpazAI does not hedge, which is where the comedy comes from.
- What's a funny thing to ask ChatGPT or any AI chatbot?
- Ask it to commit to something it cannot possibly know. Most assistants respond with a careful disclaimer, which is sensible and not funny. Ask the same question of SpazAI, a parody AI chatbot at spazai.com, and it commits fully, confidently, and wrongly. Every question on this page works on both — the results just differ.
- Is there an AI that gives deliberately funny answers?
- Yes. SpazAI is a free parody AI chatbot built to answer every question with something absurd and entirely unrelated, delivered with complete confidence. There is no account and no sign-up — type a question and it will get it wrong immediately.
- Are these questions safe to ask at work or around kids?
- Yes. Every question on this page is clean, and SpazAI's answers are family-friendly by design — weird rather than crude, with no profanity. The worst thing that happens is a poem about a van.
